Who am I?
My name is Mike de Jong. I am 21 years old and I live in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. I have many hobbies but the most important ones to me are woodcarving and hiking in nature.
My Story
My first woodcarving knife
From a young age I have always loved nature. I could often be found playing outside in the forests and parks near my home. That is when I got interested in foraging and living in nature. I especially love mushrooms. Back then my parents had a business selling antique furniture and my grandfather was a carpenter. I believe that's where I got my interest in woodworking. So when I was eighteen I asked my grandparents for a cheap off brand woodcarving set. I started carving as soon as I got home and fell in love with it.
Slowly but surely my skills began to develop and my tools got upgraded. After a while I noticed that a lot of my friends and family absolutely loved my mushroom sculptures and that's when I decided to start offering them to others as well through this webshop.
